Swim with penguins at Boulders Beach

If you are looking to head away from Cape Town for a few days, don't miss out on a visit to Boulders Beach. This is the perfect location for relaxing and rejuvinating - alone or with friends and family.
Make sure you visit in summer when the waters of False Bay are warm for swimming and protected from the wind and waves. If you get down there early enough in the day you might sneak in a swim amongst the African penguin colony who parade about the cove. These little creatures are great fun to watch and can be seen wading in the waters and playing about on the sand. Be sure not to feed or touch them - although they are only 60cm in length and weigh between 2.4 and 3.6kg, they have sharp teeth! After you've cooled off in the water, enjoy a gentle stroll along the boardwalks and dunes and take in the scenery, a perfect place to watch the waves, and time, pass by.
Boulders Beach is perfect for a day trip or weekend getaway. You can find plenty of accomodation at nearby Simon's Town.
