Langebaan, South Africa, which made Windsurfing Magazine's list of the Seven Best Places You've Never Been, is a well-known destination for adventure travel, according to the sport publication. For vacationers who are looking for a combination of adventure travel and warm weather, this may be a great spot.
Langebaan is 60 miles north of Cape Town, reports Forbes Magazine. Once they have arrived in this tiny town of 3,000 people, adventure travelers can rent windsurfing equipment and, if necessary, the inexperienced can sign up for a lesson. According to Forbes, South Africa's windy season is between December and March, which makes a late winter getaway ideal. The longest day of the year in Langebaan also happens to occur during this three-month period on December 21, Windsurfing Magazine states.
Langebaan may be an overlooked vacation spot, as it has also been described by Forbes as the nicest place you've never been. In addition to windsurfing, visitors can relax on the sandy beaches that surround the 20-mile-long lagoon, or explore the funky town.
