DAY 1 : DEPART USA
EN ROUTE
Depart USA on your trans-Pacific flight.
DAY 2-3 : EAST BALI
AMANKILA
Upon arrival in Denpasar, Bali, you are met and transferred (by road or helicopter) to Amankila or ‘peaceful hill,’ a cliff-side beach resort with panoramic views of Lombok Strait and the verdant coastline of East Bali. The resort, with its three-tiered swimming pool and Beach Club pool, has suites linked by elevated walkways. Karangasem, the regency surrounding Amankila, may be Bali’s most traditional, with villages whose way of life has changed little over the centuries. Here you find echoes of Bali’s royal past. During your stay visit Tenganan, noted for its strong and distinct craft traditions. The inhabitants are descendants of the original Bali Aga people. At Pura Besakih, explore Bali’s “mother temple.” Cycle, trek, snorkel or enjoy world-class spa treatments. (B)
DAY 4-5 : JAVA
AMANJIWO
Morning flight to Yogyakarta, the cultural soul of the island of Java. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to Central Java for a glimpse into Javanese culture and the enduring traditions of this untouched, rural heart-land. From antique shopping to elephant safaris, from leisurely strolls through the villages to temple tours and more adventurous treks, the region is rich with activities. The treasure treat of the area is most certainly the 8th century Buddhist temple of Borobudur. Looming out of a patchwork of lush verdant paddies and swaying palm trees, this monumental Buddhist temple is one of Southeast Asia’s most incredible relics, standing tall alongside Angkor Wat in Cambodia and Bagan in Burma. Both sunrise and sunset excursions are available. (B)
DAYS 6 : NUSA DUA
AMANUSA
Return flight to Denpasar where you are met and transferred to Amanusa or ‘peaceful isle.’ The thatched roof suites sit peacefully on a garden hillside in southern Bali with sweeping views of Nusa Dua and the Indian Ocean, the island of Nusa Penida on the horizon and further east, volcanic Mount Agung. The fairways of the Bali Golf and Country Club lie just below the resort, while Amanusa’s own Beach Club – ten cabanas, each with plush mattresses and roll cushions, is set on one of Nusa Dua’s top surf and swim beaches. Bali’s main shopping areas are within a short drive of the resort. (B)
DAYS 7-9 : CRUISING THE SEA OF FLORES
IKAN GURAMI
From Bali, fly east over the famed Wallace line to Flores Island and the small fishing village of Labuan Bajo. Board the Ikan Gurami, a traditional 90-foot coastal cruiser that combines the ancient romance of the spice trade sailing vessels with today’s modern amenities. It’s the perfect vessel for a private cruise for one or two couples or a family: two huge staterooms have full views on three sides of the cabin of the surrounding Flores Sea. The teak foredeck is fitted with large day beds for relaxing, dining or sunbathing. The top deck is also fitted with sun-beds and shade cover. Ikan Gurami is accompanied by Anak Gurami, a 36-foot X2K power cruiser, fitted with twin 200hp outboards. It is ideal for sightseeing, game fishing and trips to nearby reefs or secluded beaches for diving or snorkeling. Cruise to Komodo and Rinca Islands, the only two islands in the world supporting the Komodo dragon’s natural habitat, from May to October each year. In the company of experienced game rangers, hike around the two islands in search of the great Komodo Dragons (actually monitor lizards). These antediluvian creatures, up to 12 feet in length, have remained unchanged since prehistoric times. Along the way, visit Komodo’s Pink Beach and other top dive spots as you island hop to experience some of the world’s most pristine and remarkable marine environments. (B,L,D)

DAY 12-14 : UBUD
AMANDARI

Upon arrival you are met and transferred to Amandari, perched on an escarpment high above the Ayung River gorge and only five minutes from the artistic center of Ubud. Designed as a walled Balinese village, the resort offers spectacular views of the river valley and terraced rice fields.
