Travelers seeking a culinary adventure should head straight to the South African Winelands, located just an hour outside of Cape Town.
Miles and miles of vineyards stretch along in the rural area of South Africa that offers adventures for the palette.
Centered around Stellenbosch, the Winelands are a historic land surrounded by rolling hills and good tilled earth.
The two best areas to visit are Annandale Road and Helshoogte Pass, according to Fodor's travel guides.
Annandale is "foodie heaven," according to the trip experts. "The road brings you up close to the purple mountains of Helderberg and many of the country's finest wining and dining establishments."
Peter Falk and Uva Mira are two of the best vineyards in the region. Falk has comfortable sofas and a green space to enjoy tastings while Uva Mira has beautiful landscapes and an "award-winning Sauvignon Blanc," states Fodor's.
In Helshoogte, try the modern Tokara winery or the mint Cabernet at Thelema.
Sampling new grapes is always an exciting adventure as travelers never know what the wine will taste like until they've tried it.
